It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, April.

April first joined our Animal Cruelty Prosecution Council in 2016, and from the very beginning, she brought something special, a joy for life that was impossible to miss and a positivity that made everyone around her better. When she joined the APA family in August 2024, that light came with her.

April was a fierce advocate, not just for the animals and communities she served, but for the people around her. She believed deeply in the importance of mental health and taking care of yourself, and she lived that belief every single day. She gave so many of us permission to do the same.

The world is a little quieter without her, but her warmth, her laughter, and her spirit will stay with all of us who were lucky enough to know her.
