Job DescriptionEntry-level professional legal role representing the State of Washington in prosecuting misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses in District Court, with potential to handle juvenile, felony, or civil commitment cases as skills develop. Responsible for managing a high-volume caseload, reviewing and filing charges, negotiating plea agreements, preparing and presenting cases in court, coordinating with law enforcement, and advising victims and witnesses. Work is guided by legal requirements, professional ethics, and office policies.

Minimum Qualifications• Juris Doctor (ABA-accredited) and active Washington State Bar Association membership in good standing. • Strong knowledge of criminal law/procedure, legal research, and trial preparation. • Ability to manage heavy caseloads efficiently, negotiate settlements, and work under deadlines. • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass background check.

Salary/Salary Range6833.33 (monthly)
SIGN-ON BONUS: $10,000.00 Sign-on Bonus, subject to all required taxes, withholdings, and the County Policy, to be paid in two payments. 50% of the bonus will be paid on the next regularly scheduled pay date after your first day of employment with Pend Oreille County; the remaining 50% of the bonus will be paid after one year of County service.
