Program Summary
This program assists state, local, tribal, and territorial jurisdictions in preventing and reducing intellectual property theft, supporting law enforcement in investigating and prosecuting IP crimes, and reducing violent crime associated with IP cases — including copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and counterfeit-goods tariff evasion.

Goals and Objectives of This Funding Opportunity

Goal 1: Build and strengthen institutional capacity for intellectual property enforcement at the state, local, tribal, and territorial levels through task force development and public awareness efforts.

• Objective 1.1: Establish new and enhance existing IP enforcement task forces, including integration of campus law enforcement agencies.

Goal 2: Enhance multi-jurisdictional coordination and collaboration of intellectual property enforcement efforts among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement authorities.

• Objective 2.1: Facilitate regular collaboration among task force members and federal agencies to coordinate IP investigations, prosecutions, and training initiatives.
• Objective 2.2: Improve systematic information sharing on strategies and best practices for targeting, investigating, analyzing, and prosecuting IP crimes.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include:

• State, county, city/township, and special district governments
• Native American Tribal governments (federally recognized and other)
• Other units of local government
• Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors (explicitly named — "law enforcement" is defined to include prosecutors in these jurisdictions)

Required: engagement with federal partners (FBI, HSI, USPIS, USAO) as part of the task force.
